Privacy notice

What we collect when you book with us or bring your car in, why we need it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it.

Last updated: 4 November 2026

Who we are

BM Pro is an independent BMW and MINI garage at 2 Cheltenham Street, Salford, M6 6WY. We are the controller of the personal information described in this notice, which means we decide how it is used and are responsible for looking after it.

If you have a question about your information, call us on 0161 553 1301, message us on WhatsApp, or write to us at 2 Cheltenham Street, Salford, M6 6WY.

What we collect

When you use our booking or quote form, we collect your name, phone number, email address (optional), your car's registration, its make and model, the service you need, what's wrong or what you need doing, and your preferred date.

When you ask us to collect your car, we also collect the pickup address and postcode, the pickup date and time window, where the keys will be or how to access the car, whether the car can be driven, and whether you want it delivered back to you.

When we work on your car, we keep records of you and your vehicle: your contact details, the car's details (such as registration, make and model, year, VIN and mileage), your appointments, the work we did and what it cost, and when its MOT and next service are due. We may look up your registration on the DVLA and DVSA vehicle records to fill in the car's details.

We only collect what you give us or what we record while dealing with you. We don't buy data about you from anyone else.

Why we use it and our lawful basis

  • To reply to your request and do the work. We use your details to contact you, give you a quote, arrange a booking or collection, and carry out and charge for the work. This is necessary to take steps you ask for before a contract and to perform our contract with you.
  • To remind you when your MOT or service is due. We may contact you by phone, WhatsApp, text or email when your car is due. We do this because it is in our legitimate interests as your garage, and useful to you. You can ask us to stop at any time and we will mark your record so you don't get any more reminders.
  • To keep records of the work we do. We keep invoices and job records because the law requires us to keep accounting records, and because it is in our legitimate interests to keep your car's service history, deal with warranty questions and handle any complaint or claim.

We don't use your information for marketing and we don't sell it.

Who we share it with

Cloudflare hosts this website and the database where booking requests and customer records are stored. Cloudflare processes that data only on our instructions. We also use two Cloudflare services on this site:

  • Cloudflare Turnstile, a check on our booking forms that helps stop automated spam. It looks at technical signals from your browser to tell people from bots.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits to our pages. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't build a profile of you.

Google. Some pages show our Google reviews and a Google Maps map. When those load, your browser connects to Google, so Google may receive your IP address and basic browser information. Google's use of that is covered by Google's privacy policy.

Twilio. When you send a booking, quote or collection request, the details you gave (name, phone, registration, what's wrong and, for collections, the pickup address and time) are sent by text message to our team's phone so we can call you back quickly. If you gave a UK mobile number, we also send you one text to confirm we've got your request and say when we'll call. Twilio delivers those texts for us and processes the details only for that purpose.

Calls to the phone number on this website also go through Twilio, which connects them to our phone. We keep the number you called from and the time and length of the call, so we can call you back if we miss you; if we do, we send you one text to say so. If calls are recorded, you'll hear a short message first, and recordings are deleted after 90 days.

We don't share your information with anyone else, except where the law requires us to (for example, if the police or HMRC ask for it with proper authority).

Cookies

This website doesn't set advertising or tracking cookies. Cloudflare Turnstile may use strictly necessary technical information to check that a form is being sent by a person, and that is only used for security. The staff login cookie used by our admin area is only set for our own team, never for visitors.

How long we keep it

  • Booking and quote requests that don't turn into work: up to 12 months.
  • Customer, vehicle and job records: 6 years after the last job we did for you, so we can meet tax and accounting rules and answer questions about past work.
  • MOT and service reminders: stop straight away if you ask us to.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you (access)
  • ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete (rectification)
  • ask us to delete your information (erasure)
  • ask us to limit how we use it (restriction)
  • object to how we use it, including asking us to stop sending you reminders (objection)
  • ask for the information you gave us in a format you can take elsewhere (portability)

Some of these rights depend on why we hold the information. For example, we may need to keep invoices for tax even if you ask us to delete your record, and we will tell you if that is the case.

To use any of these rights, call us on 0161 553 1301, message us on WhatsApp, or write to us at 2 Cheltenham Street, Salford, M6 6WY. We may ask you to confirm who you are. We will reply within one month and there is normally no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator: make a complaint to the ICO or call 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
